In occasion of the Olympics in Paris 2024, the pergola Connect will welcome the Italian athletes at Casa Italia and serve as prestigious entryway to the Le Pré Catelan building in the heart of the French capital.
In the historic 19th century building where the new course of the Olympic movement was first celebrated in June 1894, the values of community and sharing enlivening sports take shape through artworks and furniture of the best Italian design, carefully selected for their outstanding ability to narrate a tradition of craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability.
Amidst the greenery surrounding the palace, the mirrored pergola thus becomes the first step along the tour through the halls of Casa Italia, thanks to a structure featuring two units, which respectively house the reception and visitor registration area, and a private lounge.
The glazing Fix Glass and Slide Glass 60 of Connect provide utmost privacy thanks to the Spy Glass technology: the landscape is live reflected on the surface of the bioclimatic system, thus preventing any glimpse from outside towards the interior. On the other hand, the view from the indoors is completely preserved, hence allowing the observer to fully immerse itself in the landscape.
This very close connection with nature can be seen also in the bioclimatic comfort, achievable by adjusting the sunshade blades on the covering from zero to 140 degrees. These can be operated by remote control to regulate natural light intake, air recirculation and room temperature in a sustainable manner, whilst providing greater shelter to the space underneath when completely closed, and allowing rainwater to flow along the gutters concealed in the profiles and uprights.
Lastly, adding further comfort and convenience to this cosy outdoor space are the LED-lighting on the perimeter and integrated in the blades, as well as the power and USB sockets. The aluminium structure in Corten nuances, whose paints are produced under eco-friendly processes, brings out the best of Italian design by Pratic. Essential lines elegantly enhance the Napoleon III style location and increase the beauty of its garden, which is fully preserved by means of the modular platform Set. Indeed, the latter has been conceived to ease the installation of the pergola on uneven grounds and make it highly revertible, without need for permanent paving.
After the end of the Games, the bioclimatic system will follow the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and be placed in its headquarters in Rome.
But for the time being, and until next 11 August, the Connect glazing will reflect all the emotions of the Italian champions starting and returning from the competitions, while celebrating their every success and proudly welcoming them to Casa Italia.
